Support to Access Learning (Traded Services)

Swindon Traded Services offers high quality services that enable schools to help children and young people fulfil their potential in life.

Bespoke packages can be designed around the individual needs of each child with the aim of supporting well being and inclusion into mainstream learning environments.

The services offered include:

  • Education Welfare Service: Aims to maximise attendance rates for pupils and ensure that all school-age children receive a suitable education
  • Educational Psychology Service (EPS): Supports child and adolescent development and learning, helping to improve the performance of children and young people with additional needs
  • Paediatric Therapy Services: Provide advice, support, programmes and training for staff in the delivery of individual therapy programmes for pupils with identified therapy needs
  • Speech and Language Therapy (SALT): Offers training to help schools develop all children’s oral communication and help the progress of those with communication difficulties, disabled learners and children with SEN
  • Swindon Portage: This service provides inclusion into school for children who have received Portage home teaching and offers training and support to school staff to enable successful inclusion
  • Targeted Mental Health Service (TaMHS): The Targeted Mental Health Service is for children aged 0 - 18 years and their families and aims to ensure that the emotional and mental health needs of children and young people are dealt with at the earliest opportunity
  • School Nursing Service: The School Nursing Service can offer significant support to school staff in managing children with medical needs and the delivery of PSHE programmes and on site health support for pupils
  • U-Turn: U-Turn is Swindon’s specialist substance misuse service for young people aged 10 - 18). U-Turn provides support, help and guidance to young people and their families for all drug or alcohol related problems
  • Youth Engagement Worker Service: Provides support packages to vulnerable pupils in year 10 and 11 to address a range of personal and social issues
