Emergency Card Scheme

Carers often worry about what would happen if they themselves became ill or had an emergency situation where they would need urgent help to look after the person they care for. This scheme offers carers peace of mind, that if an emergency should occur, plans can be put into place quickly to support the person/s they care for.
Each carer can develop their own emergency plan, if required. The plan will detail information about the carer and the person/s they care for, and what would need to happen if an emergency prevented them from carrying on with their caring responsibilities.
The emergency card is free to carers registered with Swindon Carers Centre.
These details and emergency plan will be registered with the Urgent GP / Nurse Centre (The Clover Centre). The carer will be issued with a card of a similar size to a credit card. The card has a unique number linking to their emergency plan and a 24-hour telephone number.
