Motability scheme

The Motability Scheme was established to provide disabled people with safe, reliable and affordable cars, powered wheelchairs or scooters.

The Motability Scheme can help you with leasing a car if you're getting either of the following:

  • War Pensioners' Mobility Supplement
  • Higher rate of the mobility component of Disability Living Allowance (DLA)

You can also apply for a car on behalf of a child aged three or over. The child must be entitled to the higher rate mobility component of the Disability Living Allowance.

Powered wheelchairs or scooters

Motability also offers a contract hire scheme for powered wheelchairs or scooters that includes insurance cover and routine servicing.

Financial help

If money is a problem, Motability may be able to provide a grant.
