About Us

Founded in 1987 by parents of children with special needs. Registered with Ofsted. We are a small team of qualified early years practitioners with extensive experience of working with disabled children and their families.

What we do

We provide children 0-5 years with special needs an opportunity to play and develop in an environment designed to educate and stimulate. We deliver the early years foundation stage, focussing on the prime areas to help children reach their full potential.

What we charge

£5 for 2.5hrs and £7 for 4 hrs. Where children are in receipt of nursery education grant we require them to use part of their 15 hours allocation at Koalas.

What we offer

Each child is allocated a keyworker who works in partnership with parents and other professionals to plan for the individual needs of the child through observation and continual assessment. We can act as lead professional organising Team around the child meetings providing support for the family.

Eligibility/Suitability

A child may be referred to Koalas if; the child has identified complex needs and is either receiving multi professional input or is likely to require it before they start school. This may also include children who have significant medical conditions. Children will normally be referred by health or education professionals and parents.

Terms and Conditions

Once allocated a place children are required to attend on a weekly basis. Parents are required to inform Koalas if they are unable to attend. Where attendance is poor the allocation of the place will be reviewed. Once a child's development is within the normal range for their age the allocation of a place will be reviewed in line with our criteria.
