Swindon funds hosuing related support services for people who need help to live independently

Some people feel that they need extra support for a number of reasons. These could be because of your age, any disability, poor physical or mental health, or because of a drink or drug problem. Or perhaps you have experienced domestic violence.

Housing related support can help with life skills such as cooking, managing your money and shopping, support finding accommodation, help getting access to health, education and employment services, support with claiming the right welfare benefits and filling in forms, and help to stay safe and secure wherever you are living.

Community based support/supported living

Some housing related support providers for older people and people with a learning disability are now also able to provide help with personal care as well as housing related support. This is called Community Based Support. For a list of these providers please click on the link below:

Who provides them?

These services are arranged by Swindon Borough Council who work with local organisations who can assess your needs and provide the right support for you. This can be either accommodation-based support, for example a warden in a sheltered housing scheme, or floating support which means that staff visit you in your own home, or support within a shared property where you will hold a tenancy and may share some support hours.

How much does it cost?

You may need to pay a contribution for any personal care and support you require. When you get in touch, Swindon Borough Council will assess your financial situation to work out how much you have to pay towards the cost of your support.

Careline is the first point of contact for all referrals and general enquiries relating to Adult Social Care. You can contact them on 0800 085 6666 from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Thursday and 9am to 4.30pm Friday (except on public holidays).
